Hi, it’s THE RIDE here, dodging raindrops once again on a drizzly day in New York City. April can be wet. Very wet. Colossally and unrelentingly wet. Of course the payoff is the beautiful flowers that we’ll see throughout the city in May, in places like Central Park, the New York Botanical Garden, and the High Line. Meanwhile, fasten your galoshes; it’s going to be a rainy month!
To be honest, I like to think of myself as a glass half-full kind of guy, and so naturally I like to point out the silver lining in the gloomy gray clouds hovering over the city. Here it is: it does not rain inside THE RIDE. Oh sure, as we cruise by Times Square we’ll undoubtedly see folks struggling to keep their umbrellas under control. But as they wrestle and tussle to stay dry, you’ll be sitting comfortably atop my plush seats, watching the scene through my floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.
As we drive the loop around Columbus Circle, give an extra cheer to our intrepid ballerina who twirls and pirouettes no matter what Mother Nature is up to. And then take a good look at the crowds near the Time Warner Center. Do they look happy to you as they try to jump over puddles and escape being splashed by passing cabs? Probably not. But you’ll be enjoying laugh after laugh as your on-board hosts entertain you with stories about New York, its history, and its inhabitants. There will be singing. There will be dancing. There will be prizes. And when the show comes to the end, you’ll rightfully conclude that THE RIDE is the best way to see all the top attractions in Mid-town Manhattan while staying warm and dry on a rainy day.
