Oh hi there, it’s THE RIDE here, with a nod to National Poetry Month (and apologies to Robert Louis Stevenson for riffing off his poem Travel) with this verse:
I should like to rise and go
Around Manhattan, nice and slow;
From my windows you see the sky-
scrapers and all the people passing by,
And, watched by businessmen in coats,
THE RIDE’s great rapper sings and gloats;—
While in the sunshine reaching out,
Our ballerina leaps and twirls about;
See her dance and pirouette
Around the fountain’s streams and jets,
And travelers from near and far
Enjoy THE RIDE—I am a star
Who entertains and shows the sights,
Of Times Square and its neon lights,
The Chrysler Building, the Empire State
You’ll see it all; it’s not too late
To hop on board and join the fun,
You’ll see New York’s best before we’re done,
My onboard hosts will joke and sing
And don’t forget this other thing:
THE RIDE is full of cool surprises
(you may even win a bunch of prizes),
THE RIDE’s a tour bus, yes that’s so,
But I’m also a special kind of show;
A blend of both, the best of all,
THE RIDE delights and will enthrall,
So get your tickets, don’t delay,
Sign up now, right here, today;
That’s really good advice, my friend,
And so with that, my poem must end.
