Greetings, it’s THE RIDE here, and I’m still all excited about the launch of THE DOWNTOWN EXPERIENCE, the new sightseeing attraction that combines an exploration of Downtown Manhattan’s most notable landmarks and neighborhoods with the magic of Virtual Reality visualizations, allowing visitors to travel back in time and relive iconic historical moments like Wall Street‘s 1929 crash and George Washington’s 1789 inauguration at Federal Hall.
The response to this amazing VR adventure has been so overwhelmingly positive, that I began to wonder what other opportunities there are to experience VR in NYC. Here is what I found:
The Ghostbusters Game at Madame Tussauds
Think a visit to Madame Tussauds is all about staring at stand-still wax figures? Think again! Don a proton pack and join the Ghostbusters: Dimension game where you’ll battle slimy spirits and other paranormal apparitions, including the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
Jump Into the Light
Jump Into the Light bills itself as “America’s first Virtual Reality Cinema Experience and Playlab” and offers 360 virtual reality films as well as immersive VR games using Oculus Rift and HTC Vive technology. You can even take the ultimate 3D selfie for sharing on social media.
VR Bar
An updated take on the classic video arcade, VR Bar offers more than 20 different experiences on the HTC Vive and Gear VR platforms.
Of course, I ever-so-humbly believe that THE DOWNTOWN EXPERIENCE is the best Virtual Reality experience in town! (Want a sense of why? Click here to get a sense of what being transported back to NYC’s past is like). But I encourage you to try them all and then let me know what you think!
